text=Feature Documentary, Germany, Finland 2003, 82 mins Bernd Fischer, a young filmmaker who grew up in Dachau, but moved away after school, introduces us to his home town. A bizarre, everyday tragi-comedy unfolds just beyond the walls of the concentration camp memorial site. The actors are locals and tourists, camp survivors and their heirs, the Bavarian riot police, who train next door in the former SS-barracks and a nun, who has spent the last 35 years in a convent on the KZ-grounds. And then there are a few shady politicians who rigged last year*s election and the local McDonald*s manager who was fired after he placed advertising for his nearby restaurant inside the camp. A surprising, absurd, loving and comic portrait of a unique place.
